Being a law business owner is not about having your own firm. It's about having your own clients.
Not all lawyers are interested in having their own clients. Some are more comfortable being excellent technicians. Both are needed and highly regarded.
Many books and consultants tell you what to do and how to do it. While this advice is included in this book, it is not enough; action is required.To have a law business, you should have at least one client you originated.
As a lawyer, you have options: You can move into an employment model, where someone “rents” you your job and pays you a salary. Or you can move into an ownership model where you have your own clients and participate in paying yourself a salary.
Both models work well. One gives you a good career; salary/benefits/bonus possibility. The other can give you more freedom and control.
One gives you income, the other possible wealth.
Both types of lawyers are valued and required to service clients.
